But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

When push came to shove, Lot’s wife couldn’t give up her property and looked back. It never came to her mind that she would lose the chance given by God for survival. Now, the prophecies concerning the Lord Jesus’ second coming have been basically fulfilled. It is essential to welcome the Lord’s second coming, which involves our outcome and destination. If we blindly eager for world’s money and enjoy material wealth, but are unwilling to come before God, then there is nothing different from Lot’s wife. Jesus says, “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). Lot’s wife looked back and missed the chance for survival due to her enjoyment of property. Today, each of us Christians will meet many temptations on our way to follow God. If we cannot give up our everything and make a resolution to follow God, we won’t persist in the end on belief in Him.
