March 25, 2018 – Matthew 21:12

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

– Matthew 21:12

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse shows us that the temple, once so full of Jehovah’s glory, became a place to sell cattle, sheep, and doves and exchange money. The Lord Jesus overthrew the tables and scolded that they turned the temple where people worshiped God into a den of thieves. It can be seen that people at that time had no place for God in their hearts, and there was no presence of God in the temple. This is the same as the situation of our church: people who truly worship God are increasingly scarce. Even though they attend gatherings, most of them make calls, play games, shoot the breeze or nod off. They are absent-minded when listening to the pastors’ sermon. On the other side, there is no new light in pastors’ sermon and no enjoyment. They cannot resolve our difficulties or questions in life. The church becomes more and more desolate. What’s the reason for this?

After a Bible study meeting, I came to know that the reason why the temple turned into a den of thieves was that the Holy Spirit’s work had shifted. The Lord Jesus had done a new work outside the temple. Those who stepped out of the temple and followed the footsteps of God had gained the provision of the living water of life. On the contrary, those who still stayed in the temple had lost the work of the Holy Spirit. Compared to the current situation of the church now, has the Lord done a new work? If so, then we should actively seek out the footsteps to achieve the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and no longer reject the people who spread the kingdom gospel according to our imaginations.

Share a passage of God’s words, “God will accomplish this fact: He will make all people throughout the universe come before Him, and worship the God on earth, and His work in other places will cease, and people will be forced to seek the true way. It will be like Joseph: Everyone came to him for food, and bowed down to him, for he had things to eat. In order to avoid famine people will be forced to seek the true way. The entire religious community is suffering severe famine, and only the God of today is the wellspring of living water, possessed of the ever-flowing wellspring provided for the enjoyment of man, and people will come and depend on Him.
