Seek good, and not evil, that you may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as you have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. – Amos 5:14-15

Bible verse: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
This verse states the practice that Christians need to do: no matter what kind of matters befall us, we should pray God to put aside our worries and rely on God exclusively. Then we can live before God feeling peaceful and secure in our hearts and having no anxiety about loss and gain, nor great sorrow or joy.
In our life, every day we will encounter different matters, big or small, and these matters will bring us effect of varying degrees. Facing the problems that are difficult to solve, we always get entangled in them and feel great pressure and pain. Here is a way: rely on God. Just as God’s word says: “You must be proactive in cooperating with Me; be diligent and never lazy. Always be in fellowship with Me and have deeper intimacy with Me. If you do not understand, do not be impatient for quick results. It’s not that I won’t tell you; I want to see if you rely on Me when you are in My presence and whether you depend on Me with confidence. You must always remain close to Me and place all matters in My hands. Do not go back in vain. After unknowingly being close to Me for a period of time, My intentions shall be revealed to you. If you grasp them, then you will truly be face-to-face with Me, and you will have truly found My face. You will be quite clear and steady within and you will have something to rely on, and you will also have power as well as confidence. You will also have a path forward and everything will come easy to you.” From God’s word, we can see it’s very important to rely on God in everything. As long as we seek more to know God’s will, we will see that nothing is impossible for God. Rely on God, and every problem will be solved easily. In this way, we won’t feel pain, but feel more confident in God.
Bible verse: Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. - Ephesians 6:10-11
On the path of believing in the Lord, spiritual battles always happen around each of us Christians. It is recorded in the Bible, “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness” (1 John 5:19). So when we return before God to pursue the way of the light, the demon will get in the way to disturb our life by any trick. It tries to make us return to its camp and betray God. Hence, how to defeat demon in spiritual wars is the truth that every Christian should know.
This verse shows us that we should rely on the Lord and put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. It is recorded in the Book of Ephesians 6:14-17 that what is the whole armor, but God’s words are the most important. Just as God’s words say, “The truth that man needs to possess is found in the word of God, a truth that is the most beneficial and helpful to mankind. It is the tonic and sustenance that your body needs, something that helps man restore his normal humanity, a truth that man should be equipped with. The more you practice God’s word, the more quickly your life will blossom; the more you practice God’s word, the clearer the truth becomes. As you grow in stature, you will see things of the spiritual world more clearly, and you will be more powerful to triumph over Satan. Much of the truth that you don’t understand will be made clear when you practice the word of God.” If we can know more truth, distinguish between good and evil, and rely on God when tempted and attacked by demon, then we’ll be certain to see through the demon’s tricks, and our spiritual life will make more progress. Therefore, it’s crucial to read and practice God’s words more.
Bible verse: He that has a fraudulent heart finds no good: and he that has a perverse tongue falls into mischief. - Proverbs 17:20
As a Christian we should be honest at any time. Since God loves and approves of honest and upright person, we should speak and act honestly. Just like it mentioned in this Bible verse that anyone who has a deceitful heart and loves to make mischief won’t come to a good end.
God’s word says, “You ought to know that God likes an honest man. God has the substance of faithfulness, and so His word can always be trusted. Furthermore, His actions are faultless and unquestionable. This is why God likes those who are absolutely honest with Him.” “I very much appreciate those who harbor no suspicion about others and very much like those who readily accept the truth; to these two kinds of men I show great care, for in My eyes they are the honest. If you are very cunning, then you will have a guarded heart and thoughts of suspicion regarding all matters and all men. For this reason, your faith in Me is built upon a foundation of suspicion. Such manner of faith is one I shall never acknowledge. Without true faith, then your love is far from true love.” “Honesty means to give your heart to God; to never play Him false in anything; to be open with Him in all things, never cover the truth; to never do that which deceives those above and deludes those below; and to never do that which is done merely to ingratiate yourself with God. In short, to be honest is to refrain from impurity in your actions and words, and to deceive neither God nor man.” “If you are glad to be a service-doer in the house of God, working diligently and conscientiously in obscurity, always giving and never taking, then I say that you are a loyal saint, for you seek no reward and are simply being an honest man. If you are willing to be candid, if you are willing to give your all, if you are able to sacrifice your life for God and stand witness, if you are honest and think only to please God, and never consider yourself or take for yourself, then I say that such people are those who are nourished by the light and shall live forever in the kingdom.”
From God’s word we see that since God’s substance is faithful, even if heaven and earth are to pass away, the words spoken from the mouth of Him will never pass away, and all His words will be accomplished in the end. Thus, God hopes that we can be a man of honesty and uprightness: Speak and act honestly, don’t be suspicious of others, don’t guard against God or wantonly guess His intentions, but practically seek the truth, give our heart to Him, and fulfill the duty of a creation of God earnestly and pragmatically. We all know that since we have been corrupted by Satan, we inevitably speak and act in a dishonest way, and use our brains to guess others’ meaning or God’s will before making them clear, which cause confusion or bad influence to ourselves or others. Most of the time, although we are performing our duty and serving God, we still have our intent and impurities. We act for our fame and status or future prospects and destiny, and it is very hard for us to perform our duty to testify God with the whole heart and mind. Therefore, we all should pursue to achieve God’s requirements. If we can work hard to be honest, rely on God to put aside our wrong intentions and viewpoints, and forsake our deceitful thoughts and ideas on everything, then the corrupt satanic dispositions will hardly control our thoughts and behaviours, and we can fulfil our wishes as a Christian: Devote our entire being to God to testify Him and satisfy His will.
So this Bible verse is an important reminder for us Christians, it helps us keep in mind and practice God’s word, and pursue to be a real honest person.
Bible verse: I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13
This verse is very important to every Christian. It’s the embodiment of our faith as well as our trust in God’s sovereignty over all things. In our lives, tough breaks and sufferings often come upon us: Our careers or studies take a nosedive; we are persecuted by the government because of our belief; unbelieving family members and friends prevent us from believing in God; as well as natural disasters or man-made accidents. When these happen, most Christians will stick to one faith: Relying on God. Nothing is impossible for God because He will always be there for us. Only when God gives us faith and strength can we overcome Satan’s temptation. Just as Jehovah God led the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea; David beat the giant Goliath; The Israelites attacked Jericho according to God’s order; The Lord Jesus resurrects Lazarus. All of these signs represent the unique authority of God. … Regardless of living or dead, all things are in God’s hands. Thus when trials come upon us, it’s the moment God test our faith.
This reminds me of the story of the Canaanite woman, she believed the Lord Jesus is God even though Jesus regarded her as a dog. Because of her faith, Jesus saved her daughter. We should also follow her example to hold onto our faith in God, rely on and look up to Him at any time. Just as God’s words say, “That is, it is only from within your faith that you will be able to see God, and when you have faith God will perfect you. Without faith, He cannot do this. God will bestow upon you whatever you hope to gain. If you don’t have faith, you cannot be perfected and you will be unable to see God’s actions, much less see His omnipotence. When you have faith and you can touch His actions in your practical experience, God will appear to you, and He will enlighten and guide you from within. Without that faith, God will be unable to do that. If you have lost hope in God, how will you be able to experience Him? Therefore, only when you have faith and you do not harbor doubts toward God, only when you have true faith in Him no matter what He does will He enlighten and illuminate you in your experiences, and only then will you be able to see His actions. These things are all achieved through faith…No matter how God works or what kind of environment you are in, you will be able to pursue life, pursue the development of God’s work in you, and pursue the truth. You will have an understanding of God’s actions and you will be able to act according to the truth. This is your genuine faith, and this shows that you have not lost hope in God. You will still seek the truth in refinement, you will be able to truly love God and will not develop doubts of Him. No matter what He does, you will still practice the truth to satisfy Him, and you will be able to deeply seek out His will and be considerate of His will. Only this is true faith in God.”
From God’s words we can understand, when we have true faith in God and rely on Him in trials, He will show us His deeds. Sufferings, refinements and trails are to perfect us. God will make a way if we have unshakable faith in Him. Hence, we should ponder this verse in our daily life. No matter what we do, we will get achievement when we put our trust in God.

Bible verse: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6
When we have children, training up our children is the first major event. Especially in this tempting and dangerous world, leading children to walk the right path need to be taken seriously by every parent. As Christians, we should take the Lord’s teachings as the principles of our actions. Pursuing to know God and relying on Him in this evil age, fearing God and shunning evil are the most meaningful aim in life. Hence, leading children into the presence of God, teaching them to walk the right path with His words, teaching them to discern good from evil and shun evil, are the best way to train up children. God says, “Because the essence of God is holy, that means that only through God can you walk the bright, right road through life; only through God can you know the meaning of life, only through God can you live out a real life, possess the truth, know the truth, and only through God can you obtain life from the truth. Only God Himself can help you shun evil and deliver you from the harm and control of Satan. Besides God, no one and nothing can save you from the sea of suffering so that you suffer no longer: This is determined by the essence of God. Only God Himself saves you so selflessly, only God is ultimately responsible for your future, for your destiny and for your life, and He arranges all things for you. This is something that nothing created or non-created can achieve. Because nothing created or non-created possesses an essence of God such as this, no person or thing has the ability to save you or to lead you. This is the importance of God’s essence to man.”
We can understand the essence of God is holy from His word. He can guide us to know what is positive thing and how to discern good from evil. Only God takes responsibility for everyone’s life. And only we bring our children before Him can we break free from Satan’s disturbance and bondage; can we learn what is the meaning of life. After that, we are certain that training up children with God’s words is the best way to lead them to walk the right way. Thanks for God’s guidance, may Him be the head of our house so that we can worship Him with children and live out a meaningful life.
Bible verse: The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turns it wherever he will. - Proverbs 21:1
When reading this verse, I can feel the authority by which God rules all things. He examines our heart and spirit, deeply knows the thoughts of every one of us. Also, I can see God’s sovereignty and arrangement in our daily international relationships or our behavior and conduct. Just as God says, “The heart and spirit of man are held in the hand of God, and all the life of man is beheld in the eyes of God. Regardless of whether or not you believe this, any and all things, living or dead, will shift, change, renew, and disappear according to God’s thoughts. This is how God rules over all things.” Hence, every time when we have a conflict, complaint and misunderstanding with people around us, we should come before God to seek His will. Just as His words say, “If you believe in the dominion of God, then you must believe that the things that happen every day, be they good or bad, don’t happen accidentally. It is not that someone doesn’t get on with you or opposes you on purpose; it is actually all arranged by God and He orchestrates everything. What does God orchestrate everything for? It is not to reveal your shortcomings for everyone to see or to expose you; exposing you is not the final aim. The aim is to perfect you and save you. How does God perfect you and save you? Firstly, He makes you aware of your own corrupt disposition, your own nature and essence, your own shortcomings and what you lack. Only by knowing these things and understanding them in your heart can you cast them off—this is a God-given opportunity. You must learn to seize this opportunity and know how to seize it; don’t lock horns and don’t resist. If you are always competing with the people, events, and things that God has arranged around you, if you are always trying to extricate yourself from them, always feeling dissatisfied, always harboring a disagreeable mentality and always misunderstanding, then you will find it very difficult to enter into the truth. Through obeying, seeking, praying more, retreating to your spirit and coming before God then, unbeknownst to you, a change will happen in your inner condition. When you are having a change, the reality of the truth is being wrought in you, and you will then progress and will see a change in the conditions of your life. When you have this change, and this kind of reality of the truth, then you will have stature, and with stature comes life.”
From God’s word we can see that, the people, matters and things around us are arranged by God. The goal is to have us learn some lessons and know our shortcomings and deficiencies, then we practice on the basis of God’s words, this will satisfy His will. No matter what happens, we will surely gain the most practical profit when we understand His will, have true knowledge of Him, and know ourselves. Having a normal relationship with God also naturally results in normal relationships with other people. This verse is of great importance and reminds us to accept things from God and come before Him.
Bible verse: Then shall you call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. - Jeremiah 29:12
God asks man to pray and call out to Him frequently. It’s the best way to communicate with Him in spirit. That makes us understand His will. When we encounter difficulties or various circumstances, we should pray to God and rely on Him in heart. Through this, we can see the deeds of God. Just as God’s words say, “After God created mankind and gave them spirits, He enjoined them that if they didn’t call out to God, then they would not be able to connect with His Spirit and thus the “satellite television” from heaven would not be received on earth. When God is no longer in people’s spirits there is an empty seat left open for other things, and that’s how Satan seizes the opportunity to get in. When people contact God with their hearts, Satan immediately goes into a panic and rushes to escape. Through mankind’s cries God gives them what they need, but He does not ‘reside’ within them at first. He just constantly gives them aid because of their cries and people gain hardiness from that internal strength so that Satan dare not come here to ‘play’ at its will. This way, if people constantly connect with God’s Spirit, Satan dare not come to disrupt. Without Satan’s disruption, all of people’s lives are normal and God has the opportunity to work within them without any obstructions. This way, what God wants to do can be achieved through humans.” From these words, we get a fix on the effect that man communicate with God in spirit. If we often pray and call out to Him, and quiet our hearts before Him, Satan dare not disturb us. Then our conditions will get better and better and we will frequently gain the guidance and leading of God.
Bible Verse: Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens. - Lamentations 3:41
Prayer is the most important practice through which we are communicating with God in believing in God. Every day, we pray a lot. Regardless of whether it is prayer of thanksgiving, prayer to seek God’s intentions when encountering matters, morning prayer, bedtime prayer, or prayer before a meal, it is an experience of communicating with God genuinely. From this verse, we can see that we should have a sincere connection with God and pay attention to quieting our heart before God. So, how to make an effective prayer? God’s words say, “Prayer is not a case of going through the formalities, or following procedure, or reciting the words of God, which is to say, prayer does not mean parroting words and copying others. In prayer, you must give your heart to God, sharing the words in your heart with God so that you may be touched by God. If your prayers are to be effective, then they must be based on your reading of God’s words. Only by praying amid God’s words will you be able to receive more enlightenment and illumination. A true prayer is shown by having a heart that yearns for the requirements made by God, and being willing to fulfill these requirements; you will be able to hate all that God hates, upon the basis of which you will have knowledge, and will know and be clear about the truths explained by God. Having the resolution, and faith, and knowledge, and a path by which to practice after praying—only this is truly praying, and only prayer such as this can be effective. Yet prayer must be built upon the foundation of enjoying God’s words and communing with God in His words, your heart being able to seek God and being at peace before God. Such prayer has already reached the point of true communion with God.” We can find the ways to practice through God’s words. The key point in prayer is to communicate with God with our heart, to be based on God’s words, strive toward God’s requirements so as to receive the work of the Holy Spirit. Only after such a prayer can we be steady and enlightened and have ways to practice. Thank God for His inspiration and guidance. Let’s enter together, so that we will make an effective prayer.
