Understand True Meaning of Being Saved!
By Liu Juan
One day, two believers of the Church ofcame to spread the to me. As soon as I heard them I knew they were preaching . Then I refused tactfully, “I have something urgent to attend to. I’ve gotta go out now. Maybe some other time.” Seeing the disappointment in their eyes, I thought: Well, I won’t listen to that. We have already been justified by our faith, forgiven our sins and granted salvation. We are only waiting for being taken into when the Lord returns. I won’t accept Almighty God’s work of the last days. Two days later, they both came again. I directly said before they opened their mouths to speak, “Don’t bother to talk to me. I have already been saved since I followed the Lord. The says, ‘That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord , and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation’ (Romans 10:9-10). So I can’t accept Almighty God’s work of the last days. You’d better preach the gospel to others. I must be going now, and I have no time for this.” Then I locked the door and left. From then on, many people came to preach Almighty God’s gospel to me frequently, but I refused them politely with different excuses.
Until one day, it rained heavily outside. The two former sisters came again to spread the gospel in the heavy rain. Although they were like drown rats, they still fellowshiped with me and asked me to seek and investigate God’s work of the last days with a smile on their faces. I thought: They still come to preach the gospel to me even if it rains so heavily. And their faith deserves to be admired. At the sight of their embarrassed look caused by the rain, I didn’t have the heart to turn down them anymore. Then I kept the book they brought. Before they left, they bade me repeatedly, “Sister, these words are all from Almighty God. In other words, they are the words of purifying and saving man expressed by the returned Lord. You must read them.” After they left I walked around in the room with their images surfacing in my mind ceaselessly. I considered: What power gives them so great strength? Is Almighty God really the return of the? At this moment, I realized I shouldn’t think so. I must hold on to the Lord’s way. I have already been justified and saved now after I had faith in the Lord Jesus. When He returns, I can enter into the kingdom of heaven. It is not necessary for God to do other work. However, they preached that God has begun another step of work. There must be something wrong …
The day for gathering arrived. Seeing that everyone was present, I said, “My fellow co-workers, Today, we’ll have themeeting. Please ask anything you like and then we can discuss and fellowship.”
Sister Xu said, “I have a question to seek. Lately, I feel uneasy very much in my heart. Despite the fact that we have been saved since we believed in the Lord, we still commit sins. The Lord, ‘Be you holy; for I am holy’ (1Peter 1:16). The Lord said very clearly. The Lord is holy, and He asked us to be holy, or else we are not qualified to see Him. The day of the Lord is coming, but we still commit sins and haven’t become holy. Can we be taken into the kingdom of heaven?” Co-worker Guo said, “That’s true. That’s also my concern. Recently, many believers asked me about this question. To tell the truth, I am not sure about that.” After having a look at my brothers and sisters, I said, “Sister Xu and Brother Guo, you think too much about entering the kingdom of heaven. The Lord Jesus was crucified as a sin offering for us only to take us into the kingdom of heaven. Though we still sin and haven’t truly been purified, the Lord has forgiven our sins. Romans 10:10 says, ‘For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.’ As we accepted the Lord’s salvation, we have already been justified by our faith and granted salvation. As long as we sacrifice everything and work hard for the Lord, and don’t deny His name or betray Him, this can be tantamount to following the way of the Lord, and we can be raptured. This is the Lord’s promise. We shouldn’t have any worry about it.”
Co-worker Zhao chimed in eagerly with his support, “Exactly, thank the Lord. We have been justified by faith and saved by grace, and we will surely enter the kingdom of heaven. Don’t worry.”
Sister Xu said shaking her head, “I think to enter the kingdom of heaven isn’t as simple as we imagine. I often ponder these words of the Lord. The Lord said, ‘Be you holy; for I am holy’ (1Peter 1:16). ‘But he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven’ (Matthew 7:21). We can see that the Lord clearly asked us to achieve holiness. However, now we live in sin every day, such as hating others, envying others, clinging to riches and vanity, and so on. Can such people like us, living in sin, be raptured? The Lord also pointed out that only the ones who do the heavenly Father’s will can enter the kingdom of heaven. Have we done it? The Lord’s word will not be unfulfilled. I am not clear about whether we can enter the kingdom of heaven.” Co-worker Xin said, “Well, indeed. Although we devote much and work hard for the Lord, we still live in the vicious circle of committing and confessing sins. We don’t achieve purification indeed. This is a real problem. The Bible says, ‘And holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord’ (Hebrews 12:14). With regard to this problem, we really can’t figure it out. Whether we can enter the kingdom of heaven is still unknown.”
I thought to myself: What they said makes sense. Is entering the kingdom of heaven not as simple as I have imagined? No … this can’t be happening. The Lord is faithful. There is no need for me to think too much. The Bible says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). We are no longer under condemnation by our belief in the Lord Jesus! So there is no need to worry about whether we can enter the kingdom of heaven. After the gathering of that day, we still didn’t make the question clear.
In the evening, I sat in front of the desk, and opened the Bible. But somehow, my heart was unable to be calmed. The debate of co-workers in the daytime always floated to the top of my mind. I raised, came to the window and looked up at the starlit sky. A thousand thoughts came into my mind: The Lord Jesus was crucified as a sin offering for us, just intending to bring us into the kingdom of heaven. We sacrifice and labor for the Lord, and don’t deny the Lord’s name or betray Him. Aren’t we doing the heavenly Father’s will? Haven’t we been justified by faith and been saved by grace after we accepted the Lord’s salvation? But why does the Bible say, “And holiness, which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14)? Indeed, no one is able to deny the fact that we are always committing and confessing sins. What is this all about? I couldn’t figure it out. I fell down before the Lord, “Oh, Lord, I am confused now, and can’t see through these matters. I don’t know how to do it. Oh, my Lord, may You enlighten me.”
After the, I was still confused, and my heart could not calm down, with my mind occupied by the conversations of brothers and sisters in the co-worker meeting. Lying in the bed, I tossed about without any drowsiness all night. By this time, suddenly I thought of the book which the two sisters had brought to me on the rainy day and the words they had exhorted me: “These words are all from Almighty God. In other words, they are the words of purifying and saving man expressed by the returned Lord.” I sat up suddenly and thought: Have a look? Another thought came to me: No, I must hold on to the Lord’s way. Then I lied down again, but I tossed about in my sleep. With these issues revolving in my mind, I didn’t know how to deal with them, and also couldn’t get rid of them. I got up slowly, knelt down before the Lord and called on Him, “O Lord! They told me you have already come back and done a new work. They also said the book is Your words. Is that true? I have no idea how to discern. Please enlighten me.” At that moment, it occurred to me that I should open the book, and maybe I could find the answer in it. Hence, I opened the book and read Almighty .
Then I read Almighty God’s words, “Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering, and did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to take on the sins of man as the sin offering, but also required God to do greater work to completely rid man of his disposition, which has been corrupted by Satan. And so, after man was forgiven his sins, God has returned to flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment, and this work has brought man into a higher realm” (Preface).
Here I thought: Oh, the Lord Jesus just served as a sin offering for man and forgave the sins of man, but man hasn’t gotten rid of his corrupt disposition. Is this the reason why we always commit sins? Is the Lord telling me? These words were like a flash of lighting. Then I continued to read.
Almighty God says, “All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and shall gain the truth, the way, and the life” (Preface). These words exactly fulfilled the Lord’s words: “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). I couldn’t help but ponder: It seems that these words come from the same source. I should read them thoroughly. In case that Almighty God is the return of the Lord, I will miss the chance if I refuse. Therefore, I continued to read it page by page. The more I read them, the more I thought the words were practical. Although I couldn’t be sure whether the words are what the Lord returns to express, I felt reading them was more enjoyable than reading the Bible.
