I once thought that believing in God is believing in the Bible, we can’t believe in God without the Bible. A fortuitous meeting helped me realize my thought was wrong.

But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no: for whatever is more than these comes of evil.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
From this verse we can see, God hopes us to be honest and as simple as children. This is God’s demand of us, which is decided by the essence of God’s faithfulness. It reminds me of Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.” From God’s command to Adam, we can not only feel God’s concern for mankind, but also see the essence of God’s trustworthiness. God speaks clearly and plainly about what man can eat, as well as what man cannot eat. And there is no need for Adam to guess or ask. God likes honest people. We should act according to the requirements of God in our conduct and dealings with others. Then how to be honest? I want to share my knowledge of how to be honest with you:
- Be honest when praying.
- Practice speaking the truth and abandoning lies.
- Do not deceive God with our indolence in fulfilling our duties.
- Give our heart to God. This is the most critical method of practice.
