When He Was Misinterpreted, He Practiced in This Way

By Liu Xing, Spain

Fang Xing worked as a postproduction professional in a film studio. Once, as usual, he handed a postproduction project that he was working on over to his colleague Wang, who would finish the last process of it.

After receiving the work, Wang had busied himself doing it for several hours, but didn’t finish it. Afterward, he anxiously tried operating it repeatedly, but still failed. Suddenly he stood up, went to Fang Xing in a rage, and blamed him, “You deliberately tampered with the project and deleted some documents to let me be unable to finish the process. You want to finally laugh at me, don’t you?” At Wang’s unexpected words, Fang Xing looked bewildered. After he understood what had happened, he hurriedly explained to Wang, “I didn’t delete the documents. I don’t know how things happened like this.” Listening to his explanation, Wang didn’t believe it at all and insisted that Fang Xing did something bad. Wang said, “The project you gave me is right the evidence. Stop quibbling! You’d better admit the fact.”

At this point, recalling one scene after another of him making the project, Fang Xing said to himself, “Impossible. How was this possible? I made this project personally. I had checked it clearly to make sure it had no problem before I gave it to him. How could it disappear? …”

Hereafter, Fang Xing only wanted to find evidence to prove himself innocent. Hence, he hurriedly found the USB flash disk used to copy the project to Wang. But he discovered that what was inside it had been deleted, which meant there was nothing to prove his innocence. At the moment, Fang Xing was entirely disappointed, feeling no matter how he explained, he could not explain the matter clearly. Accordingly, he also thought: “This isn’t an unimportant problem. If Wang tells it to our leader and he believes what Wang says, then how will he deal with me? Will I be dismissed from my job?” Just when Wang was still forcing Fang Xing to admit his mistake, other colleagues came up. Seeing the peculiar eyes from them, Fang Xing felt more pained and upset, as if a mute was suffering in silence. He also thought: “Soon, this matter must be spread across the whole company. When it comes, where can I hide my face? How will I be able to lift my head in front of others? I’d better quit my job as early as possible. …” At the moment, the more he thought, the more pained he felt. He continuously asked himself, “What should I do? Why do my colleagues all not believe me? How will they see me later on? How will I stay in the company?”

Just when he was miserable and helpless, he thought of God, and prayed to God, telling God about his situation and suffering and asking God to guide him to walk the road ahead. After praying, he thought of God’s word, “When others misinterpret you, you are able to pray to God and say: ‘O God! I do not ask that others tolerate me, nor that they forgive me. I only ask that I am able to love You in my heart, that I am certain in my heart, and that my conscience is clear. I do not ask that others commend me, or hold me in high regard; I only pursue to satisfy You from my heart….’” Then Fang Xing obtained some comfort from God’s words and felt peaceful and steady in his heart, thus being overcome with emotion: God observes my heart and sees my behavior and actions clearly. As to how people misinterpret me and whether they will clear me, this is unimportant. I don’t ask that others praise me, but instead, I only want to become an honest man and free from any qualms. Then, he couldn’t help being moved to tears, and felt in his heart that God always accompanied him and that God’s love comforted his injured heart, so he was willing to face all this calmly.

Through experiencing this matter, Fang Xing couldn’t help but be lost in thought: Actually, many matters sometimes can’t be said clearly in our life, and the more we explained, the more deeply others misunderstand us. Besides, what others think of us isn’t controlled by ourselves. In that case, if we always care about others’ attitudes to and evaluation of us, we’ll be usually influenced by people, matters and things around, worry about personal gains and losses, and even live in distress. This isn’t really worthwhile.read Fang Xing saw God’s words, “People often live in the corrupt satanic disposition, … protect their own image, their own reputation, status, and interests. They have not gained the truth. So you are distressed, troubled, and bound too much, and these things are seen according to your state.” “Ponder this: What kind of changes must a person make if he wants to refrain from falling into these conditions and wants to be able to cast off these conditions and free himself of the vexations of these things? What must a person obtain before he can free himself of the vexations of these things, loosen the bonds of these things, and be able truly to be free and liberated? On one hand, a person must see through things: These fame and fortune and positions are tools and methods for Satan to corrupt people, to entrap them, to harm them, and to cause their degeneration. You must first see clearly this aspect in theory. … How are these things cast off? Do you have a solution? First, you must see through them, and then you must learn to give up these things and set them aside.

Thinking over the matter that had just happened, Fang Xing realized: The reason that I felt so miserable and had so many misgivings was that I was influenced by Satan’s poison of “As a tree lives for its bark, a man lives for his face.” And this made me place my reputation and face ahead of anything else. As a result, when I was misunderstood, I felt a lack of face and thought that my status was lost and my image was ruined. So I felt I was too ashamed to see people, and I was full of pain in my heart. In fact, maintaining face, reputation and status was revealing Satan’s corrupt disposition. Fang Xing saw clearly the wrong view of “As a tree lives for its bark, a man lives for his face” was the tool for Satan to corrupt people, to entrap and to afflict them. He also understood: To cast off the bonds, first I should change myself, learn to put aside these things, and accept God’s examination. As long as I act honorably, I shouldn’t care about how people will see me and how they discuss or evaluate me. When thinking of this, Fang Xing let out a long sigh and felt somewhat relieved. He knew it was God who brought this to him. Without the guidance of God’s words, he would always live in pain and couldn’t walk out of the pain from being misunderstood by others, not knowing what point he would be tormented to.

Because of the requirements of the work, this project needed to be finished urgently. At this very critical moment, Fang Xing actively came to Wang and said, “Now it isn’t the time to see who will take the blame. And the most important thing is how to solve the problem of the project so that it can be finished early and we won’t hold up the progress of the work of the whole department. As for other matters, no matter how our leader deals with them, I’m willing to accept the result.” Hearing what he said, Wang hesitated for a moment, and then nodded, promising to resolve the problem together with Fang Xing. At that time, Fang Xing also prayed to God silently in his heart and asked God to guide him. Later, in cooperation with each other shoulder to shoulder, the problem was solved, and finally they finished the project on schedule. Fang Xing exclaimed, “It is God who has guided us. Thanks be to God!”

What made Fang Xing even more surprised, toward the end of work, Wang approached and said to him, “I’m sorry for misunderstanding you. I have found the cause of the problem. The project you gave me was right, and there was something wrong with my computer. I really hurt you. I’m really sorry.”

At the moment, Fang Xing felt excited and a bit calm. Through this experience, he had already been certain that all this was orchestrated by God’s hands, so he could put aside his face to face all this calmly. What excited him was that he really felt that God’s deeds were very wondrous and that God was too lovable. At this point, he couldn’t express his mood with words and only wished to thank God and praise God in silence in his heart.
