John 8:32

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

The Lord Jesus said these words to the Jewish people who believed in Him. At that time, those people didn’t know what the freedom meant that mentioned by the Lord’s words. They thought they had never been in bondage to any man, so how should they be made free? The Lord answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:34-36). Through the revelation of the Lord’s words, we know that because we have become the servant of sin, we lose freedom, living in great pain. The sin originally came from Satan’s corruption, and our arrogant, selfish, deceitful and malicious dispositions have been deeply rooted in our hearts. Therefore, we’ve become more and more arrogant and selfish. When something happens, we always want to have the last word and to control others. We strive for fame and gain and harm each other, without love, tolerance or understanding.

God’s words say, “Satan corrupts and controls man, and man acts under the corrupt disposition of Satan, and inhabits a world that is corrupted by Satan and lives among corrupt people. The masses are unwittingly possessed and assimilated by Satan and man therefore has the evil nature of Satan. From everything Satan has said and done, we can see its arrogance and we see its deceit and malice. How is Satan’s arrogance primarily displayed? Does Satan always want to occupy God’s position? Satan always wants to tear down God’s work and God’s position and take it for itself so that people will follow, support, and worship Satan; this is the arrogant nature of Satan.” God’s words clearly disclose Satan’s sinister motives behind all that it does. It wants us to stay far from God and to be controlled and afflicted by it. At the same time, it corrupts, tempts, seduces, and even attacks us by all means. Because we are bound by sins, sometimes it is very difficult for us to speak honestly. We have lost freedom.

Only God is the only Redeemer of mankind. The Lord said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35). God’s words are the truth. Only the truth can help us overcome Satan. God Is Almighty – “Satan Can Change Nothing Under God’s Authority.” May God inspire and lead us to understand more truths in His words, practice the truth, break away from the bound of Satan, and be purified and saved. Then we will gain the true freedom.
