Watch This Short Film of Slimtime from a Different Perspective
This short film “Slimtime” shows a woman accepts slimming treatment in a beauty salon. In order to lose weight, she gives up some of her original habits and accepts some new methods which are helpful to weight reduction. Due to some reasons, she fails at last. But she is very happy, while those who lose the weight successfully have lost their true selves.
Watching this, I get deep in meditation. All things are perfect in God’s eyes, so are the mankind created by God. But we are always unwilling to obey God’s sovereignty. When we have dissatisfactions with our appearance, and then try a variety of ways to make ourselves more beautiful and slimmer, it may result in suffering at last. Nowadays, there is an increasing number of reports on failures in cosmetic surgeries and losing weight. Many people spare no expense and suffer a lot to do plastic surgery or lose weight with a pursuit of good appearance, but it is ultimately counterproductive and end in failure. Some people even choose to commit suicide because they were unable to bear such a setback. All of these come from our disobedience to God. We always have the ambition and desires. With the hope that we can be better than others, we use our own way to change the present conditions, but end up in lying broken and bleeding and getting in agony. I thought about: “Because people do not recognize God’s orchestrations and God’s sovereignty, they always face fate defiantly, with a rebellious attitude, and always want to cast off God’s authority and sovereignty and the things fate has in store, hoping in vain to change their current circumstances and alter their fate. But they can never succeed; they are thwarted at every turn. This struggle, which takes place deep in one’s soul, is painful; the pain is unforgettable; and all the while one is frittering away one’s life. What is the cause of this pain? Is it because of God’s sovereignty, or because a person was born unlucky? Obviously neither is true. At bottom, it is because of the paths people take, the ways people choose to live their lives. Some people may not have realized these things. But when you truly know, when you truly come to recognize that God has sovereignty over human fate, when you truly understand that everything God has planned for and decided for you is a great benefit, and is a great protection, then you feel your pain gradually lighten, and the whole of you become relaxed, free, liberated.” is so true. We are created by God and He rules over all things. God knows our needs best and everything God arranges for us is most appropriate. When we don’t recognize God’s predestination and sovereignty, we always struggle against fate, which in turn invites a lot of trouble and distress for ourselves, even may probably pay the price with our life. Only when we obey God’s sovereignty and arrangement, can we have true peace and joy and truly free and release our heart.
