November 28, 2017 – Jonah 3:8

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God: yes, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

– Jonah 3:8

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Despite his high status, the king of Nineveh, after hearing the news that God would destroy their city, he showed true repentance—Not only did he himself wear sackcloth and ashes and fast, he also ordered all people to do the same, leading them to confess and repent their sins before Jehovah God. It is the true repentance of Nineveh’s King and his subjects that caused God to change His intentions and not to destroy the city of Nineveh, but to continue to bestow His mercy upon them. This is also the manifestation of God’s truest love for mankind.
