What will of God is concealed within the Lord Jesus’ refusal to observe the Sabbath? And what inspiration does it bring to us today?
Matt Redman – The Heart Of Worship (Lyrics And Chords)
“The Heart of Worship”, this song sings out the attitude man should possess when he worships God. Man shall worship Him in spirit instead of outward practices. Just assaid, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). Matt Redman, who wrote this song, is a well-known singer. In the early 1990s, churches in Britain was in the midst of a worship revival. The church where Matt stayed focused much of their attention on the music sound and equipment, but overlooked God (Himself)—the core of worship. The types of worship got more and more abundant, but people had deviated from the true worship, and their heart had strayed farther and farther from God. Matt was aware of this problem. He experienced that when music was over and outward things were put aside, people could get close to God in an innocent way, which was the truest worship in heart. Hence, he wrote this song from the heart to express his new knowledge of worship.
That reminds me of the’ saying, “But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day” (Matthew 12:6-8). We all hope to serve God well and dedicate the best to Him, worship and praise Him with our heart. However, we just make effort to praise Him in form with grand types and best equipment and worship Him in the largest and most luxurious hall, which are deviated from our heart. All God wants is our true heart, and He requires us to honor Him as great, carry out His will and act in accord with His heart. Just as say, “Because when a person accepts what God entrusts, God has a standard for judging whether the person’s actions are good or bad and whether the person has obeyed, and whether the person has satisfied God’s will and whether what they do is qualified. What God cares about is the person’s heart, not their actions on the surface. It’s not the case that God should bless someone as long as they do it, regardless of how they do it. This is people’s misunderstanding of God. God looks not just at the end result of things, but places more emphasis on how a person’s heart is and how a person’s attitude is during the development of things, and looks at whether there is obedience, consideration, and the desire to satisfy God in their heart.”
We can see that from His words, God looks not just at our outward practices and the end result when we serve Him, but place emphasis on whether we wish to satisfy, obey Him and consider His heart. Then how to measure whether we have satisfied His heart during the time that we work? The most important thing is that we can accept God’s observation with an honest heart, do everything just for satisfying His heart, seek His will at all times, put aside our wrong viewpoint, maintain a proper relationship with God and pursue to serve Him up to the standard. Only in this way can we receive the praise of Him. Thanks for Matt’s creating such a beautiful song. It makes us reflect our attitude of worship. Let’s put everything aside towith heart. All the glory be to God!
