Break Through the Inertial Thinking – Welcome the Lord
In our life, whatever we are faced with, we always have our own thinking and viewpoints. When we consider things from different angles, we can obtain some unexpected gains. On the contrary, if we always use the inertial thinking to approach every matter, we will be shackled by our thinking. In that case, our cognition toward things will remain in the original basis and never achieve any breakthroughs.
There has happened such a thing: A young photojournalist went to the seaside on vacation together with his family. Because of occupational habit, he always paid attention to those meaningful life scenes around. For several days in a row, walking along the beach after dinner, he noticed that an old fisherman could always net a good haul of fish at that time. Obviously, he was highly skilled at fishing. However, the journalist found it strange that after hauling fish to the shore, the fisherman always threw the big ones back into the sea and took some small ones home. Every day was like this. The journalist felt so curious that he decided to ask the fisherman for the reason.
One day after supper, he stood on the shore where the fisherman landed every day. Appearing on time with a good haul of fish, the fisherman pulled the fishing net to the coast as usual and then threw the big fish into the sea one by one. The journalist squatted and asked: “Excuse me! Why would you always throw the big ones caught with great difficulty into the sea? If kindhearted, you should set the small fish free. I really can’t understand why you do that.” Hearing the young man’s question, he said calmly: “There is nothing strange! The pot is too small to contain the big fish, so I have to throw them into the sea.”
The journalist had thought the old fisherman must have had his own reason. But at that moment he felt incredible when hearing the fisherman’s explanation. “Why don’t you change to a bigger pot? Thus your whole family could taste delicious big fish every day.” he asked. After hearing the words, the old fisherman seemed more astonished than the journalist. “How could that be? The stove fits the pot well. The size of the stove is definite. If the pot was changed to a larger one, I couldn’t light up the fire and cook.” The journalist seemed to find out the root of the problem from his answer. “It is quite simple! You can build a new stove and then get a bigger pot. In this way all problems will be solved. It’s a hundred times better than you throw the big fish back into the sea which you caught with difficulty, isn’t it?” he said to the fisherman, loudly and smugly. “The stove and the pot were passed on from my grandpa to my father, and then my father left them for me. I just know how to cook with this set of pot and stove. Even though someone changes them for me, I don’t know how to use the new set. Because my father didn’t tell me.” the fisherman explained. After hearing those words, the journalist stopped being complacent and didn’t know what to say actually.
Inconceivable as the old fisherman’s deed is, but it is a thought-provoking story. He threw the big fish he caught back into the sea day after day, year after year. What kind of thinking drove him to do so? The main reason was that the old fisherman clung to the life style handed down by his ancestors, and adhered to the constant rules of living. When the reasonable proposal advanced by the journalist conflicted with his lifestyle, he could not accept it. As a matter of fact, we may also play the role of the old fisherman on account of the inertial thinking and thus miss the good opportunities in our daily life. Think back to the Age of Grace, when the Lord Jesus came to work, the Pharisees, chief priests and scribes who believed in Jehovah generation after generation, always followed the lessons and traditions of their ancestors. In their heart, they firmly believed that God is the God who is only called Jehovah, the God in the temple and the God under the law. When God carried out the work of the Age of Grace by the name of Jesus, He did not enter the temple, but took the disciples to move across all lands to preach the way, heal sickness and cast out demons. Because the work of Jesus and Jehovah were not alike, the Pharisees, chief priests and scribes not only didn’t accept the work of Jesus but condemned and blasphemed against the Lord Jesus according to their past knowledge of God’s work. They nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross ultimately, seriously provoking the disposition of God and being subjected to unprecedented destruction. This was the heavy price that they paid for their treatment toward God’s work by inertial thinking.
Then look upon the last days: All of devout Christians have become accustomed to enjoying God’s grace, mercy and tolerance toward man; they have got accustomed to calling upon the Lord in all things and to the Lord providing assistance whenever they need it; they also have got accustomed to crying out to the merciful Savior Jesus and accepting Jesus as the only Savior of them; moreover, they have got accustomed to knowing God in the Bible and believing in the Bible as if it were the Lord. Just as Almighty God says: “For thousands of years, the living have passed away, taking their longings and dreams with them, and no one truly knows whether they have gone to the kingdom of heaven. The dead return, and they have forgotten all the stories that once occurred, and still follow the teachings and the ways of the forefathers. … Yet God has kept His silence throughout, and has never appeared to us, or spoken to us. And so we willfully judge God’s will and disposition according to the Bible and the signs. We have become accustomed to the silence of God; we have become accustomed to measuring the rights and wrongs of our behavior using our own way of thinking; we have become accustomed to using our knowledge, conceptions, and moral ethics to replace God’s demands of us; we have become accustomed to enjoying the grace of God; we have become accustomed to God providing assistance whenever we need it; we have become accustomed to holding out our hands to God for all things, and to ordering God about; we have also become accustomed to following doctrine, not paying attention to how the Holy Spirit leads us; moreover, we have become accustomed to days in which we are our own master. We believe in a God such as this, whom we have never met. Questions such as what His disposition is like, what His possessions and being are, what His image is like, whether or not we will know Him when He comes, and so on—none of these are important” (“Beholding the Appearance of God in His Judgment and Chastisement” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). Almighty God’s words reveal the conformist faith of the followers in the whole religious circle. Though they long for the return of the Lord Jesus night and day, when the Lord Jesus carries out the work of chastisement and judgment under the name of Almighty God in the last days, these followers living in their thoughts and notions like the earliest Pharisees, believe that God can only be called Jesus instead of Almighty God when He returns; they believe God can only give mercy, love and abundant grace upon man, and He could not possibly chastise and judge man, much less reveal man’s corrupt substance; they believe that all words and work of God are in the Bible and it is impossible for God to do new work outside the Bible. … Clinging to these notions and being unwilling to break through their inertia thinking, they do not meet the Lord’s return as the wise virgins, but rather resist and condemn the Christ returning to flesh to do the work of the last days. They have made the same mistake as the Pharisees did and nailed God to the cross again, embarking on the road of being against God.
Almighty God says: “Not ever does the work of God conform to the conceptions of man, for His work is always new and never old. Not ever does He repeat work of old but rather forges ahead with work never before done. As God does not repeat His work and man invariably judges the work of God today based on His work of the past, it is exceedingly difficult for God to carry out each stage of work of the new age. Man presents far too many hindrances! The thinking of man is too hidebound! No man knows the work of God, yet they all define such work. … History progresses forward, so does the work of God, and the will of God continuously changes. It would be impractical for God to maintain a single stage of work for six thousand years, for all of man knows that He is always new and never old. He could not possibly continue to sustain work akin to the crucifixion, and once, twice, three times … be nailed to the cross. This is the perception of an absurd man. God does not sustain the same work, and His work is ever-changing and always new, much as how I daily speak to you new words and do new work. This is the work I do, the key of which lies in the words ‘new’ and ‘wondrous’” (“How Can Man Who Has Defined God in His Conceptions Receive the Revelations of God?”). “God wants those who are able to accept the new light, and He wants those who accept and know His latest work. Why is it said that you must be a chaste virgin? A chaste virgin is able to seek the work of the Holy Spirit and understand the new things, and moreover, able to put aside old conceptions, and obey the work of God today” (“Know the Newest Work of God and Follow the Footsteps of God”).
The work of God is always moving forward. God does new work and speaks new words every day. Facing the return of the Lord, if man can break through his inertial thinking rather than adhere to the knowledge of God’s previous work and can seek God’s work humbly and reverentially, he will definitely meet the return of the Lord and be raptured before God’s throne. Almighty God is the Christ of the last days and the coming of the Lord Jesus. God has already returned to flesh and begun His work of judgment and purification in the last days. Nowadays, Almighty God’s work in the last days has basically ended in the China Mainland. His work is expanding throughout the entire world at the speed of lightning. Millions of words expressed by Almighty God have been uploaded on the Internet. Besides, there are various gospel movies, MVs and song-and-dance videos for those who are longing for and seeking the appearance of God from all nations and all lands to investigate. It can be seen that God’s kingdom gospel has been spread to all nations and all people. Almighty God says: “What you should understand is this: The work of God never waits for any that cannot keep pace with God, and the righteous disposition of God shows no mercy to any man” (“Christ Does the Work of Judgment With the Truth” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). Now, shall we still define, refuse and resist God’s new work relying on the past knowledge of God or break through our conceptions and imaginations to be wise virgins to welcome and seek God’s appearance? As long as we can put aside our own old thinking and conceptions as well as hold a heart of seeking and investigating, we can be enlightened by God, follow His footprints toward a new age, and into a beautiful new heaven and new earth God prepared for us. At the crucial moment, will you continue waiting and seeing? Don’t you want to lose the final chance of salvation?
